The road brings us back to train station Tain-L’Hermitage and our gastronomy teacher took us to Chapoutier wine shop where delicious three course meal awaited us. We were seated in basement which was decorated with style and minimalistic approach. Forks and knifes, and two glasses were already placed on the table. One of the workers of this shop poured us a glass of white wine and after a while, chef himself brought beautiful plate with wonderfully decorated food. The first meal were escallops with ravioli. First time I ate escallops and I was pleased. The second meal we had was dear meet with pasta accompanied with red wine. Aaand for dessert we had orange ice cream with sparkling wine. It was difficult to leave this table but the tour around the vineyard awaited us. Our guide took us to older wine making cellar which now is not working, but they plan to restore it in future. We also had a look at the vineyard which is nearby branded with big sign ‘’Chapoutier’’. Marius Chapoutier started his wine business in 1897 with Rodolph Delephine. After her retirement, Marius changed the name of the company to ‘’Chapoutier et Compagnie’’. In 1937 after his death, his son Marc succeeded him and took over the business. Later came Michael Chapoutier, winemaker, and he expanded the business even in Australia and Portugal. Today Mathilda and Maxime (traditionally naming kids with first letter ‘’M’’), continue perpetuate the tradition of family business. M. Chapoutier is the most admired name in French wines worldwide. We saw how the trees of grapes are precisely planted in order and how much effort you must put to make this delicious drink. Later we returned to wine shop where degustation was held. So more wine it is! The brochures, paper, pen and glasses were waiting for us. In the end we tasted about eleven different types of wine. We were even lucky enough to taste Chateauneuf du Pape which is approximately 130 euros per bottle. All thanks to our guide and professor, we passed perfect day. After leaving M. Chapoutier building, we visited other small wine shop nearby where a friend of professor works. The owner is a Greek man and that day his son tended the shop and poured us more wine to try. It followed by conversation, where are we from and what are we studying. Barely walking we still managed to go to pastry shop which our professor highly recommended and received each one sweet to take on the road back. Then we managed to make it on time to train and ate our presents in thought of this wonderful day.
